TX State - Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund (TSIF)

Summary

The TSIF may be used to match funding to state entities, such as  institutions of higher education, for semiconductor research, design and manufacturing projects; and for grants to business entities with an established presence within the state of Texas to encourage economic development related to semiconductor manufacturing and design.

  1. Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund (TSIF):

    • Established in June 2023 under the Texas CHIPS Act (House Bill 5174).

    • Funded with $698.3 million to support Texas leadership in semiconductor research, design, and manufacturing.

  2. Grants:

    • Available to state entities, higher education institutions, and businesses with a Texas presence.

    • Supports semiconductor manufacturing and design projects.

  3. Eligibility:

    • Who Can Apply?

      • State entities, institutions of higher education, and private businesses planning new or expanded semiconductor projects.

    • Business Grant Criteria:

      • Must be based in Texas and contribute to the state's semiconductor industry leadership.

      • Requires capital investment and job creation.

      • Local community awareness and support, including local economic incentives, are considered.
