Target in Forney Opens

Target has officially arrived in Forney, serving as the anchor for the new Village at Gateway retail development. The company hosted a Very Important Guest (VIG) event on Tuesday, July 21, ahead of its Grand Opening on Sunday, July 26, at 11520 E. U.S. Highway 80.
Bringing Target to Forney has been a longtime initiative of the Forney Economic Development Corporation. During the VIG event, the FEDC Board of Directors was recognized for their dedication and years of work supporting the Village at Gateway project and its retailers.
The FEDC partnered closely with Target and 3MEBS Property Company LLC to help make this development possible. These efforts include performance‑based economic development incentives, complemented by rebates provided by the City of Forney, all designed to support high‑quality retail growth and new job opportunities in the community.
The new Target store encompasses approximately 148,000 square feet and is expected to employ around 200 team members. Shoppers can enjoy a full grocery selection—including produce, meat, and dairy—along with convenient in‑store services such as CVS Pharmacy, Target Optical, a Disney shop, and a Starbucks Café.
