H-E-B Forney, the second major anchor to open at Village at Gateway, had a grand opening on Wednesday, February 4, following a ribbon-cutting and VIP tour on Tuesday, February 3.
H-E-B’s opening follows the opening of The Home Depot, the first major anchor at the Village at Gateway, in November.
The new H-E-B store, measuring 139,000 square feet, is open 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily. It includes a gas station, a car wash, a pharmacy, a curbside pickup area and a two-story True Texas BBQ restaurant.
H-E-B, headquartered in San Antonio and made up of more than 400 stores, is one of the nation’s largest grocery retailers and recently topped the ranking from Dunnhumby's Retailer Preference Index of shoppers’ preferred grocery stores.
Later in 2026, the Village at Gateway expects to welcome BJ’s Wholesale Club, Target, EVO’s Entertainment, Burlington and others. A new Texas Health Resources hospital is under construction and expected to open in fall 2027.
