Forney EDC to Offer New Downtown Redevelopment Incentive

Stewart McGregor

FORNEY, TX – The Forney Economic Development Corporation is proud to announce the addition of a new incentive program for the Historic Downtown Forney area.  The Redevelopment Incentive Program is a new grant for current and prospective downtown business owners to assist in the redevelopment of property from one use to another.  The grant provides a 50/50 matching reimbursement of up to $25,000 to be used on interior and exterior renovation of properties.

“I’m excited to start this new program and appreciate the EDC Board and City Council’s continued support of investment for our downtown businesses,” said Warren Ketteman, Forney EDC Director. “This new program will continue to make Downtown Forney a unique place to work, shop, dine and spur entrepreneurship.”

In order to meet program guidelines, the applicant must own or lease space/land within Downtown Forney (generally defined as the area in and around the Central Business District and Transition Overlay), comply with all Planning and Zoning rules, apply for the incentive with the EDC Office, show proof of receipts and receive approval from the EDC Board.  The application and contract are currently being finalized by EDC staff and will be available in their office at City Hall.  The Forney EDC continues to offer its Downtown Façade Grant program for existing businesses interested in updating their exterior façade.

For information on downtown incentives or other programs, contact the Forney EDC Office, (972) 564-5808 or info@forneytexasedc.org.
