The Forney Economic Development Corporation (FEDC) was recently nominated by the Texas Downtown Association for an achievement award, in the “Best Downtown Partner” category. Other nominated in the category include Friendswood (Friends of Downtown Friendswood Association), Paris (People’s Bank) and Pittsburg (City of Pittsburg EDC).

The Forney EDC was nominated because of the effort the department has put into the redevelopment of Downtown Forney over the last two years including the downtown enhancement project, façade and redevelopment grant programs, attraction of new businesses including Eno’s Pizza Tavern and the recently announced Victorian Village office and retail development project.

“The Forney EDC would not be in this position without our supportive Downtown businesses that create jobs and contribute to our quality of place.” said Economic Development Director Warren Ketteman. He added, “We’d also want to thank our local leaders and nonprofit organizations who continue to support downtown redevelopment and events throughout the year. We look forward to continuing our momentum in supporting historic Downtown Forney.”

One hundred and eleven entries were submitted in twelve categories from communities across the state. Winners of the categories will be announced on November 7 during the 2018 Texas Downtown Conference in Corpus Christi.
