Gateway Development


Forney’s largest and newest development is Gateway, a 2,000 acre mixed-use property comprised of single family, multifamily, industrial and commercial opportunities.  The $23 million six-lane Gateway Bridge spans U.S. Highway 80 and connects the north and south ends of Gateway Boulevard.  Due to Forney’s strategic location near Dallas, Petro-Hunt chose to develop Gateway as the premier destination for commerce and housing activity for the growing eastern portion of the DFW Metroplex. 

Gateway Parks subdivision is under construction and at build-out will have 1,850 single family homes by some of the region’s best homebuilders.  Gateway Cedars, Gateway Oaks and Gateway Pines provide luxury apartments of 300 units each.  Gateway Cedars and Gateway Oaks are 100% leased, with Gateway Pines currently pre-leasing and a fourth complex in planning phase to meet this pent-up demand.

South of U.S. Highway 80 is 800 acres of industrial land to accommodate new industry location.  The site is bordered by Union Pacific Railroad to the north, with Gateway Boulevard providing access to Gateway Bridge and U.S. Highway 80.  Natural gas is provided by CoServ gas, with an 8” poly line running along Gateway Boulevard.  Water is provided by Talty SUD, complete with an 18” line and 1-million-gallon water tower.  The North Texas Municipal Water District, of which Forney is a member city, has a 30” transmission line running parallel to the Union Pacific Railroad track.  If needed, this line can be tapped in order to provide access to Forney’s contractual water rights of 52 MGD through the North Texas Municipal Water District.  Electricity is supplied by Oncor, with the potential for dual feed service.  Oncor can provide the needed electric load to the site.  Fiber optic services are available from a variety of providers.  Please see the utilities page for more information related to site infrastructure.

North of U.S. Highway 80 is 400 acres of mixed-use commercial land.  With frontage access to U.S. 80, this site is a premier location for office, regional headquarters, entertainment, retail, dining, hospitality, healthcare, commercial/industrial flex space and destination businesses.
