Quality of Life

Recreation & Events

Independence, collaboration, and celebration make the City of Forney's Spellman Amphitheater a regional draw

Forney may be considered a small community, but it offers big options when it comes to quality of life, recreation and events.  The City of Forney has prided itself in winning awards based on our safety, cost of living and award-winning school district.  Our 170-acre community park boasts multiple softball and soccer fields, volleyball and basketball courts, playgrounds, splash pads, hike and bike trails and the 5,000-seat Spellman Amphitheater.  Forney Community Park hosts events year-round, including festivals, concerts, family movies and athletic tournaments.  More information on city events can be found here.

Historic Downtown

The historic downtown district in Forney boasts specialty retail, dining and events year-round.  Some of these events include the Downtown Artisan & Farmers Market, which is hosted the second and fourth Saturday between March and November and sponsored by both the Forney Arts Council and Forney Downtown Business Association.  Further, the Forney Arts Council hosts the twice annual Art & Wine Walk, as well as regular concerts in historic homes called “Forney Live.”  The Spellman Museum of Forney History has museum exhibits highlighting stories of Forney’s past, along with special traveling exhibits.  The Spellman Museum also hosts “Third Thursdays” at the Spellman, which features artists, historians, authors and other guests.  Developer and specialty retail/restaurant interest continues to take place as downtown finds itself in a renaissance of growth.  More information on downtown can be found here.

Education

Forney's success and growth is due, in much part, to the award-winning schools with the Forney Independent School District.  Featuring STEM, Career/Technology and dual credit programs, Forney's schools continue to build upon their vision of inspiring students through innovative education.  More information on education in Forney can be found here.

The Forney Independent School District (FISD) features talented students in both fine arts and athletics.  Whether it’s catching a football game under the stars at City Bank Stadium, attending a choir concert or watching a high school theatre performance, Forney ISD has an abundance of local entertainment.  For more information on FISD fine arts programs, click here.  Information on athletic programs for each high school can be found here:

Healthcare

Forney’s growing population provides a built-in healthcare customer base of young families and senior citizens.  The Forney Medical Plaza, a modern, state-of-the-art facility anchored by a Baylor Scott & White Emergency Center with helipad provides over 80,000 square feet of “Class A” medical offices and facilities.  General practitioners and specialists alike office in this building alongside medical support services.  More information on healthcare can be found here.
