Independence, collaboration, and celebration make the City of Forney's Spellman Amphitheater a regional draw

In 2012, Forney Parks and Recreation completed the state-of-the-art, 5,000 seat outdoor amphitheater endowed to the Forney community by lifetime resident Mick Spellman.  The Spellman hosts concerts, movies in the park and other community events throughout the year.  For more information on The Spellman Amphitheater, click here.

Forney Arts Council brings Forney Live!, Second Saturdays and the Gallery of the Arts to life.

Since 2010, the 125+ member organization has been a driver in bringing more fun and creativity to Forney.  In conjunction with the business community and FISD, the group provides a venue for local artists to display their works and wares at Downtown Forney's Second Saturdays open market.  Forney Live! is a singer-songwriter series which brings the writers of famous songs into the living room of local historic homes.  The group is open to all ages and art mediums, including dance, culinary, pottery, quilting, drama and other expressive forms.  Their website is forneyarts.org.

Award-winning Forney ISD programs integrate arts & culture throughout the community.

Extracurricular groups host band and choral concerts, plays, and art shows throughout the year which are open to the public. Students also conduct workshops for young community members to attend such as dance camps. Their website is www.forneyfinearts.com.

Parks & Recreation

Although Forney may be considered a small community, it offers big options when it comes to recreation and events. Our 127 acre community park boasts multiple sporting fields, playgrounds, trails and the 5,000 seat Spellman Amphitheater. Little league and select sports teams regularly use Forney athletic complexes for their practices and games. There are also numerous events that take place around the City throughout the year including 4th of July, Christmas on Main, Turkey Trax Auto Show and activities sponsored by the Forney Arts Council. The Spellman Museum of Forney History is a new museum coming soon to Historic Downtown, which will showcase the rich local history of Forney.
