Mr. Bill Cates, President of the Board of Directors, has been a member of the EDC Board since 1999. He has lived in Forney since 1974. Mr. Cates is employed by Half Price Books, Inc. and has worked there for 19 years, currently in the corporate office training department. He is also an Adjunct Professor with Dallas Baptist University in the College of Natural Science & Mathematics. Mr. Cates holds a Bachelors degree from Baylor University in Physics and Mathematics and Masters Degree in Physics. A past member of the Forney City Council from 1998-2004, Mr. Cates served as Mayor Pro-Tem from 2002-2004. He is a Sunday School teacher at Community Life Church, where he is an active member. He enjoys working crossword puzzles, reading, home improvement projects and family. He and wife, Susan, have two daughters. “I serve on the EDC Board to give back to the community and to help guide economic development for future residents. Quality of life is important - and Forney has the foundation, location and ability to grow while retaining it's strong sense of community and values.”
