Development Process

Businesses and developers looking to locate in Forney should contact the City’s Community Development office at (972) 564-7384.  A development review committee (DRC) meeting is held each Tuesday morning at the Community Development office.  These meetings provide an opportunity to discuss your project with City staff representing engineering, public works, zoning, building standards, code enforcement and economic development.  You can schedule a DRC by contacting the Community Development office.  Depending on the size of development, the entire process of project review, permitting and governing body approval can be completed in as little as 90 days.

Businesses leasing existing space must contact the Community Development office in order to receive proper permitting and apply for a Certificate of Occupancy (C.O.).

A zoning map of the City of Forney is available here.
