Business Retention

Major employers part of Forney develop a close relationship with the Forney Economic Development Corporation.  Forney EDC staff attempt to visit each major employer on our major employers list on an annual basis to develop a positive relationship between the business and the City.  A typical business retention visit lasts about an hour and provides an opportunity for Forney EDC staff to keep a pulse on the local economy, learn about the unique needs of the business, facilitate any anticipated business expansion and provide connection to programs and resources that help the business prosper.  Further, the EDC hosts several events for major employers throughout the year, including the F.I.R.M., “Forney Industry Retention Meeting,” which is a biannual luncheon of major commercial/industrial employers in Forney.

Forney EDC also works with the Trinity Valley Small Business Development Center to host annual programs for small businesses in Forney.  Past programs include seminars for digital marketing, entrepreneurship and small business compliance topics.  Additionally, we work with our partners at Workforce Solutions of North Central Texas and STAR Transit to visit major small business employment hubs in Forney annually for a lunch and learn and connection to business resource partners.  These lunches take place at the Mustang Creek Business Parks, Forney Medical Plaza and City Bank office building.

The Forney Chamber of Commerce, Forney Area Networking Group (FANG) and the Forney Downtown Business Association (FDBA) provide regular meetings and an outlet for local businesses to network, collaborate and partner together in growing Forney’s local industry.

For more information on business retention services, please contact Forney EDC staff at (972) 564-5808.
